Changing Locations
For moving/relocation assistance, submit a service request (include name/number of contact person) to Facilities Services in Maximo. The request will be forwarded to the department estimator who will visit with the requester and provide an estimate and timeline for the work.
Make sure to consider the following for your move:
- If your new space needs to be cleaned, painted, carpeted or otherwise changed, submit a work request detailing the work needed well in advance of your move.
- If you need furniture or equipment moved to your new location, submit a work request detailing how, when and where it should be moved.
- If you are changing departments, contact IT to determine what to do with the technology provided to you and any technology you will need in your new space.
- If you need different furniture for your new space, KU Surplus may be able to provide free furniture for your space.
- If you intend to move sensitive lab equipment or materials that may contain hazardous materials, Environment, Health and Safety and Facilities Planning and Development may need to be involved. Moving research lab space may also involve changing spaces to accommodate lab equipment. If this is the case, Facilities, Planning, and Development will need to evaluate the space for limitations of structural load, HVAC requirements, etc.
Update Your Location in the KU Directory
Be sure to change your work location in the HR Portal by following the instructions (.docx) posted on the Human Resources Management website. In addition, unit leaders or unit administrators should notify Space Management at spacemanagement@ku.edu to update the occupants of unit spaces.
